In this article you will find instructions for setting up quick pages: AMP, turbo, Instant Articles Facebook.
How to make a turbo page
Turbo Pages is a technology of fast loading sites, which was proposed by the largest search engine in the Russian Internet Yandex. Turbo can be called an analogue of Google's accelerated mobile pages.
The essence of technology tezisno:
- The site owner creates light versions of the pages.
- Using an RSS feed, webmaster transmits a turbo page to Yandex.
- The search engine keeps light versions of pages on their servers.
- "Yandex" offers owners of smartphones a turbo page in a search or news feed.
- Thanks to the high download speed, the user experience is improved.
According to Yandex, turbo pages weigh 10 times less and load 15 times faster than regular pages.
Should I connect the turbo page
"Yandex" actively recommends webmasters new technology. Webmasters of RuNet traditionally doubt and criticize innovations of search engines.
To assess the feasibility of using new technology, I set up a turbo page on the site for experiments. Within a day after adding the RSS feed to the mobile issue of Yandex, links to the turbo blog pages appeared. There are no changes in the issue for desktops and tablets.
Significant changes in traffic or site position for four months did not see. An important point: I do not specifically track the position, but appreciate it by eye. That is, I enter the queries that interest me and evaluate the issue. On important requests for me, the blog was in the top before the introduction of turbo pages. The situation has not changed after the RSS settings.
An important change: almost all owners of smartphones from the mobile issue "Yandex" began to send to the turbo page. Previously, users got to the adaptive version of the site. There is a difference with AMP: in my case, Google sends about two-thirds of mobile traffic to accelerated pages, and a third of smartphone owners go to responsive pages.
Fact: the example of one blog shows that Yandex is sending to the turbo page from the issuance of almost all smartphone owners. That is, the search engine actually forces web surfers to use accelerated pages.
Noticed changes in behavioral metrics. Over the past month, the bounce rate on the site as a whole was 10.4%. All visitors are counted here, including desktop users.
The bounce rate for visitors to the turbo pages for the same period was 8.83%.
The bounce rate for smartphone owners who landed on responsive pages was 17.7% for the month.
That is, in terms of bounce rate, ordinary adaptive pages lose to turbo pages more than twice: 17.7% versus 8.83%.
Another result of introducing turbo pages is a reduction in AdSense revenue. While not included on the turbo pages advertising, so the result is natural.
Subtotal: for example, one site shows that the introduction of turbo pages did not significantly affect traffic. Almost all owners of smartphones "Yandex" from search results began to be sent to quick pages. On turbo pages, the bounce rate is about two times lower than on pages with adaptive layout.
I consider the introduction of turbo pages appropriate. It's not just a matter of reducing the bounce rate. In contrast to the “poor webmasters” from “Survival”, I consider “Yandex” and Google the allies of the site owners. Search engines put on fast pages: turbo and AMP. Keep this in mind when making your bets.
How to set up RSS for turbo pages
To implement a turbo page on a site, you need to set up an RSS feed in RSS 2.0 format and add it to Yandex.Webmaster.
If the site works on popular CMS, you can configure the RSS feed for turbo pages within 5 minutes without technical skills. For resources on the most popular WordPress engine, use the Yandex.News Feed by Teplitsa plugin.
Install and activate the module. Enter the plugin settings section in the admin panel. It is available in the "Settings - Yandex.News" menu. Configure the following options:
- URL broadcast. Specify arbitrary feed URL if you want to change the default option.
- Maximum age of tape entries. Set the maximum value so that the oldest entries on the site are displayed in the turbo format.
- Enable support for turbo pages. Mark the option.
This setting is sufficient for the correct implementation of the turbo pages. Save the changes.
After setting up the plugin, add an RSS feed to the Webmaster. Open the "Site Information - Turbo Pages" section. Enter the feed URL in the Add RSS feed field. Send the feed for review and wait for the results. The check takes a few minutes. If there are no errors, the corresponding status will be displayed in the Webmaster.
In the section "General information about the site" specify the name of the resource. If desired, change the display option. Available display without logo, with a square and rectangular logo.
Specify the number of analytics counters. At the time of preparing the article, the counters are supported by Metrics, Analytics, Liveinternet, Mail.ru, Rambler TOP-100 and Mediascope. Optionally, add the IDL block ID or the AdFox site code.
After setting up the RSS feed, the turbo pages appear in the search within a day. Optionally, you can evaluate the preview of accelerated pages. To do this, expand the URL in the "Data Sources" section and click on the link "Examples of turbo pages".

In the Yandex directory there are solutions for connecting turbo technology to websites running Drupal, Joomla, OpenCart, 1C Bitrix.
How to implement accelerated mobile pages
A detailed answer to this question is in our guide on AMP. To save time, you can use the following theses:
- AMP is a fast page loading technology from Google.
- The search engine decides for itself which version of pages to send users: adaptive or accelerated.
- On the test site, about two-thirds of mobile users fall from a search on AMP, and a third - on pages with adaptive layout.
Do not listen to the nagging webmasters with the "Search": Google does not take traffic itself after the implementation of accelerated pages. To view the accelerated pages, users move from the issue page to the site. The owner can monetize traffic on AMP in the usual ways: through the sale of goods and services or through advertising.
In the guide to accelerated pages for the implementation of technology on WordPress, a bunch of plug-ins are recommended: AMP from Automattic and AMP for WP from the Kaludi brothers. Currently, it is enough to use one of them. The solution from Automattic is suitable to enable accelerated pages and forget about them. The product from the brothers Kaludi will help webmasters who need flexible settings and customization of the plugin. For more information about the capabilities of AMP for WP, see our screencast.
